Spirit Competition 2008-2009


1. Promoting Membership

  1. Membership Increase for year June 2008-June 1st 2009 (25% =20 pts, 50% =30 pts, 75% = 40 pts, 100% = 75 pts)
  2. Re-activate inactive members – 10 pts each (Document attendance at meetings and activities.)
  3. Rush activities with prospective members – 15 points ea
  4. PHQ’s as officers participating in 50% of scheduled Bethel meetings and activities (5 pts per PHQ per term)
  5. Hold event that includes & honors past members (10 pts)
  6. Develop Jobie based fun activity & submit in writing (5 pts per activity – max of 15)
  7. Maintain a Jobie to Bee program with documentation (15 pts per term)
  8. Hold a Bethel Birthday party-Invite past members-share stories-establish e-mail contact with Majority Members (10 points for party, +5 pts for having any past members attend. Doesn’t have to be on exact date!)

2. Promoting the Organization

  1. Articles about Job’s published in Non-Job’s publications – 10 points ea. (30 pts max)
  2. Community activities that promote Job’s (parades, fair festival, school event etc) –10 points each (30 pts per term max)
  3. Develop promotional activity &submit details so other Bethels can use. Activity doesn’t have to be completed, but details should be complete. –5 pts each (20 pts max)
  4. Establish website and have updated - 20 pts to establish or have established and 10 pts additional for 3 updates to homepage per term. (Supply hard copies of pages)

3. Learning the Ritual

  1. No rituals on the floor after 2nd meeting of the term, except one time pro-tem (10 points per term) Dir of Epochs to provide statement of verification.
  2. Girls participating in Miss Job competition (15 points first girl and 20 points total for 2 girls participating)
  3. Girls completing Ritual Knowledge course including all three tests ( must be taken 2008-2009 terms – can be retaken if already passed) ( 75% of membership = 30 pts, 100% =50 pts)
  4. Adults passing Ritual Knowledge course (must be taken 2008-2009 terms – can be retaken if already passed) 25% of Council = 30 points, more than 25% = 40 points.
  5. Participate w/ 75% membership in “School of Instruction” executed by Grand Deputy – 50 points

4. Leadership Skills

  1. 2 Line officer meetings per term (10 points per term)
  2. Develop and submit new ceremony for state (100 pts)

5. Promoting the Philanthropy

  1. Holding HIKE activities for fundraising & promotion – 20 points per term (Must designate activity before holding it)
  2. HQ have DESIGNATED fundraisers at beginning of their term for each of HIKE, Scholarship and Promotion (5 pts per term)
  3. Complete a HIKE bag for Auction 2009, fill it and donate at Grand 2009 (30 pts)

6. Goodwill Among the Bethels

  1. Visitation to other Bethels outside of own city-10 pts ea, max of 40 pts total
  2. Communicate with members of another state keeping copies of communications-5 pts ea, max 50 pts
  3. Steal “the Bible” - 10 pts only

7. Goodwill Among the other Masonic Bodies

  1. Participate in event that helps another Masonic body without compensation (10 pts each)
  2. Hold an Honors meeting each term inviting other Masonic bodies through written invitations (10 pts per term)
  3. Create at least one project that tells another Masonic body thank you for supporting your Bethel (10 pts each)

8. Grand Session 2009

  1. Complete a Bethel scrapbook and turn in for competition- 50 pts
  2. Participate in Bethel talent competition a group- 30 pts
  3. Every girl at Grand participate in ritual competition in one event other than Bethel-30 pts
  4. Present written history of Bethel to History table-75 pts
  5. Develop a Bethel cheer to do at Grand-10 pts
  6. Have item worn by all Bethel members and adults to show Bethel pride at Grand 2009 -20pts
  7. “Jobie Bowl” place winner from Grand 2009-50 pts

How to document your points

  • Please make a notebook with all of the documentation included (picture of scrapbook, copies of cheers, application of Miss Job contestant etc.) to turn in at Grand 2009.
  • Number the required documentation based on Spirit Competition (ex. Bethel scrapbook would be 8.a. Documentation could be a picture of the scrapbook as well as an entry form for Grand Competition) and keep in order in notebook to assist in judging.
  • Contact Grand Guardian Lyn with questions.
  • Prizes 1st place $100.00, 2nd place $50.00, 3rd place $25.00.
